Rod founded Focus in the early 1990s and was the CEO of the business through until 2022 - growing the size and breadth of the business throughout the South Island. Rod is currently a Director, Shareholder and Board Chair for the business. Outside of work Rod enjoys the outdoors and cars.
Brendon McDermott
Chief Executive / Director
As Chief Executive, Director, and shareholder at Focus, Brendon brings a strong background and experience in management, accounting and IT to his leadership role. Born and raised in Invercargill, he has local at the core and is committed to guiding the team with a clear vision and practical strategies that deliver real value for clients. Known for his approachable leadership style he is focussed on having the best team that turn technology in smart solutions for clients.
Outside of work, Brendon enjoys hitting the trails on his mountain bike or clocking up kilometres on his road bike.
Geoff Hinton
Technical Director
Geoff, one of our Directors and shareholders, plays a pivotal role in Focus. With a wealth of experience, he not only oversees our IT infrastructure network design and configuration but also provides technical leadership to our Invercargill-based team. Geoff excels in fostering client relationships, ensuring the successful delivery of complex technical projects, and aligning our efforts with the company’s strategic goals.
Outside work, Geoff enjoys the great outdoors and embarking on hunting adventures with his daughters and friends.
Tracy Yule
HR / Finance Manager
As HR and Finance Team Manager, Tracy has been an integral part of Focus since its early days and has seen the company evolve through significant change. She is passionate about supporting people across the business, refines processes, works closely with the Finance and HR team, and supports the Executive leadership team. Known for her calm, practical approach across her diverse role, Tracy ensures the wheels of Focus keep turning behind the scenes, helping create a strong company foundation.
Outside of work you might find Tracy unwinding on her yoga mat or spending time with family and friends. She enjoys camping and getting outdoors with the dog, spends plenty of time maintaining their lifestyle block and loves getting to Te Anau for adventures on the lake.
Steven Hodson
Business Technology Manager
As the Business Technology Manager at Focus, Steven leads technical strategy, architecture, and innovation across the organisation. With over 25 years’ experience in IT and several years in management, he specialises in enterprise systems, security, and process optimisation. Known for his ability to bridge complex technical challenges with practical business outcomes, Steven drives consistency and standardisation across branches, ensuring services align with client goals. His leadership fosters collaboration and innovation, helping clients achieve reliable, future-ready technology solutions.
Away from work, Steven often spends his weekends with his dogs camping and fishing around the Central South Island. He values the tranquillity and focus that come with being outdoors, and these moments help recharge his energy. Combining adventure with relaxation, he enjoys discovering new spots for his next fishing getaway.
Rohan Anderson
Service Delivery Manager
Rohan leads the managed services team as Service Delivery Manager at Focus, supporting South Island SMEs with reliable, right‑sized IT solutions. Since joining in 2019, he has worked across technical and sales roles, giving him a practical understanding of everyday business challenges. He is passionate about continual improvement and leverages pragmatic innovation to make systems and processes simpler, smarter and more secure.
Outside of work, Rohan enjoys time with his young family and exploring Dunedin’s vibrant hospitality scene, often sampling the best hazy pints on offer. Together with his wife, he co‑owns Noble, a popular new café that keeps his customer service skills sharp. When he finds the time, Rohan unwinds with a round of golf or a game of squash, and on Sundays you’ll often find him watching the fights in the UFC.
Jasmine Graham
Administration Manager
Jasmine began her journey with Focus in 2013 as an Administrator and has since grown into the role of Administration Team Leader, managing a team of six across multiple branches. Building strong relationships with both colleagues and clients is something she truly values—always accompanied by a bit of friendly banter and a great cup of coffee!
Travel is one of Jasmine's greatest passions, and she loves ticking off bucket-list destinations. Her most recent adventure to Machu Picchu was an absolute dream come true. Outside of work (in the little spare time Jasmine has), you’ll find her running a small gift shop in a rural town with her daughter, relaxing with her beloved dogs, or out deer hunting with her husband.
Stefan Howden
Gore Branch Manager
Stefan is the Gore branch manager, leading the local team in delivering IT services and solutions across the region. With over 18 years of experience in system administration, network design, and VoIP. He is passionate about building robust IT solutions and sharing knowledge with both customers and colleagues.
Outside of work, Stefan enjoys spending time with family, exploring Southland, some hunting & fishing & volunteering as a youth leader with Scouts. You can also find him unwinding in a flight simulator or in a battlefield in some online PC games.
Shane Cohen
Dunedin Branch Manager
With 30 years’ experience across the technology and communications sector, Shane leads our Dunedin branch with a friendly, down-to-earth approach that makes it easy for clients and colleagues to connect with him. He’s known for cutting through complexity, keeping conversations practical and honest, and adding a touch of humour when it helps everyone reset. Clients value his straightforward style and his ability to turn technical challenges into clear, confident decisions.
At Focus, Shane works closely with the team to strengthen planning, refine processes, and create an environment where people feel supported and able to do their best work. His relationship-driven approach has helped build strong regional partnerships, support the local startup community through FoundX, and contribute to Focus winning the People’s Choice Award at the Grand Business South Awards.
Outside of work, Shane enjoys music, creative projects, motocycle riding and time with his family.
Kerri Rayner
Timaru Branch Manager
With many years of hands-on experience in sales across a diverse range of industries within Timaru Kerri Rayner brings a wealth of knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit to the South Canterbury branch. Having owned and operated businesses, Kerri Rayner understands the value of adaptability and customer-centric service.
Leading the Timaru team, Kerri Rayner is passionate about building long-term business relationships and being the trusted partner for clients’ IT requirements. The team’s focus is on delivering reliable solutions and fostering partnerships that help clients succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Away from the office, Kerri enjoys cycling, often heading out for long rides to unwind and stay active. With the children grown and out of the house, Kerri and his wife Mandy make the most of their free time socialising with friends. Time spent at the caravan is a particular favourite, offering a chance to relax and maybe catch a fish or just take the lure for a swim.

As ERP Business software manager and Christchurch Branch manager, Ranae leads the Business Software Consultancy Team, driving successful ERP implementations and client solutions. With over 18 years of experience in business software consulting, Ranae brings deep expertise in project delivery and process optimization. Known for a curious mindset and strategic problem-solving, Ranae enjoys uncovering root causes and crafting simple, effective solutions. Through her leadership and commitment to client success, she ensures Focus delivers impactful, tailored outcomes that help businesses thrive.
Outside of work, Ranae embraces an active lifestyle. Passionate about connection and the outdoors, she enjoys weight training and spending time with her husband, son and dog, whether boating on South Island’s rivers and lakes or camping under the stars.

With over 30 years of experience delivering innovative technical solutions, Dan brings a wealth of knowledge and proven expertise to every client engagement. His career has been defined by a commitment to helping businesses harness technology to improve efficiency, strengthen security, and achieve sustainable growth.
As the manager of Focus Technology Group’s Central Otago branches, Dan leads with a client-first approach, ensuring that local businesses receive tailored solutions backed by industry best practices. Dan’s leadership is built on trust, reliability, and a passion for problem-solving. Clients benefit not only from his technical acumen but also from his ability to bridge the gap between complex systems and real-world outcomes.
Beyond his professional role, Dan is passionate about the outdoors. Whether mountain biking along Central Otago’s trails or exploring the region’s landscapes on family camping trips, he embraces the lifestyle that makes this area unique. He shares these adventures with his family of five, making the most of Central Otago and the South Island.
Matt Bruce
Technical Director - South Canterbury
Having more than 20 years’ experience in the technology industry has let Matt form strong working relationships with clients across the South Canterbury region. He originally established the business in Timaru before entering a 50/50 JV with Focus, keeping the local ownership while bringing the benefits of being part of the wider Focus group.
Outside of work he loves hunting with friends.

Central Otago Client Relationship Manager
Karen is incredibly passionate about Client relationship management and is dedicated to understanding and addressing our clients' needs, ensuring they always feel valued and heard. By blending strategic insights with an empathetic approach, she aims to turn client requirements into actionable solutions that drive success. She is proud of our team and how we work together on customer engagements, and brings a strategic account management approach while helping to deliver solutions that increase client satisfaction. Karen has 30+ years in the technology industry and this dedication and experience make all the difference, and she is grateful to work with this talented and growing group of colleagues and motivated clients in the Central Otago region. Karen joined Focus in 2010.
When Karen is not deep into client projects, you’ll likely find her enjoying the great outdoors. She loves trail running, mountain biking, camping, skiing, and more recently, golfing. Balancing work with outdoor activities and spending time with a wonderful family.

With more than a decade of experience in business systems and customer support, Emma leads the TimeTrak team with a focus on practical solutions and seamless client experiences. Her career began in administration and service coordination before progressing to become a certified ERP consultant, giving her a strong foundation in both technical and operational aspects of business. Today, Emma oversees software feature design, implementations, upgrades, and ongoing support, ensuring every solution is tailored to improve efficiency and deliver measurable results.
Known for her approachable leadership style and commitment to clear communication, Emma works closely with clients and her team to turn complex challenges into smart software solutions. Outside of work, she enjoys unwinding with family and friends across the southern region—often with a cup of coffee in hand. These moments keep her grounded and fuel her passion for creating solutions that make a difference.
Tina Guina
Marketing Manager
Tina joined Focus in 2023 as a Marketing Specialist, bringing 15 years of experience across B2C and B2B marketing. She has worked with global brands including Netflix, Disney, Spotify, Nickelodeon, and Huawei, and played a key role in launching 5G in the Philippines in 2019, the first in Southeast Asia. Her strong strategic thinking and brand storytelling led to her promotion to Marketing Manager, where she continues to elevate Focus’ presence and strengthen how the business connects with clients.
A self-taught creative, Tina’s passion for photography led her to become a Fujifilm Philippines food photography and styling ambassador. Outside of work, she enjoys photography, videography, and documenting everyday moments. Usually seen with a matcha in hand, she brings warmth, creativity, and a grounded, human touch to every project and interaction.
