Founder / Managing DirectorRod founded Focus in the early 1990s and has been in charge of the overall business through until 2022 - growing the size and breadth of the business throughout the South Island. These days Rod is concentrating on the business software divisions and finance aspects of the business. When not at work Rod enjoys the outdoors and catching the occasional fish.
Geoff Hinton
Technical Director - Solutions and ServicesGeoff, one of our Directors and shareholders, plays a pivotal role in Focus. With a wealth of experience, he not only oversees our IT infrastructure network design and configuration but also provides technical leadership to our Invercargill-based team. Geoff excels in fostering client relationships, ensuring the successful delivery of complex technical projects, and aligning our efforts with the company’s strategic goals. Outside work, Geoff enjoys the great outdoors, embarking on hunting adventures with his daughters and friends.
Brendon McDermott
Chief Executive / DirectorBrendon is a Director and shareholder at Focus. He is responsible for leading the Focus team on a day-to-day basis, supporting us to deliver IT and ERP expertise to our clients in a way that is customer focused and efficient. He is passionate about supporting people to be their best, whether that is our team or our clients. He enjoys spending time with his family and being active in the outdoors.
Tracy Yule
HR / Finance ManagerTracy is a founding employee of Focus, seeing us grow to 70+ staff. Her role covers HR, payroll and finance, meaning she keeps the wheels of Focus turning behind the scenes and works closely with the directors. She loves the people that make up the Focus family and the diversity her role offers. Outside of work she enjoys biking, walking and boating on Lake Te Anau.
Matt Bruce
Technical Director - South CanterburyHaving more than 20 years’ experience in the technology industry has let Matt form strong working relationships with clients across the South Canterbury region. He originally established the business in Timaru before entering a 50/50 JV with Focus, keeping the local ownership while bringing the benefits of being part of the wider Focus group. Outside of work he loves hunting with friends.
Dan Messingham
Branch Manager – Central OtagoDan is responsible for ensuring we deliver timely and efficient services across Central Otago. He has 30 years’ experience in delivering technical solutions, and his focus is always on securing long term solutions, rather than a quick fix. Living locally in the Lakes District, Dan has a passion for the great outdoors and enjoying the region with his family.
Shane Cohen
Branch Manager – DunedinShane is focused on ensuring a great team and client experience for Dunedin. Shane is passionate about technology, people and business and loves the sense of shared achievement when implementing technology solutions that make a real difference to a client’s business. In his spare time, Shane loves getting out on his motorbike or kicking a football around.
Ranae Dodds
Branch Manager - Christchurch / ERP Business Software ManagerAs the Christchurch Branch manager, Ranae is responsible for the Business Software Consultancy Team. With over 15 years' experience as a Business Software Consultant, she has a solid experience to draw on to assist with the delivery of Business Software projects.
With a curious mindset and desire to always ask questions, she enjoys the challenge of getting to the source of the issue and finding simple solutions.
Outside of work, Ranae loves living in Canterbury, enjoying boating the lakes and rivers, but equally enjoys getting away, heading to the lakes in the West Coast or Central Otago to visit family and friends.
Stefan Howden
Branch Manager – GoreAs Gore Branch Manager, Stefan’s responsibility is leading the local Gore team in delivery of services and solutions. He has 16+ years of technical experience and enjoys working with the local and wider team to deliver workable solutions for the customer. In his free time Stefan volunteers for a local scouting group and enjoys getting outdoors around the southern region with his family.
Kerri Rayner
Branch Manager – South CanterburyKerri brings experience and knowledge from business ownership and working in a range of industries, including communications, packaging, engineering and retail. Listening and being part of the solution and success of South Canterbury businesses is what gets Kerri up in the morning. He loves living in South Canterbury, enjoying the coast, lakes and mountains with his family and friends.

TimeTrak ManagerEmma brings over a decade of experience in business systems and customer support to her role as TimeTrak Manager.
She began her career in administration and service coordination, progressing to become a certified ERP consultant.
Today, Emma leads the TimeTrak team, overseeing software feature design, implementations, upgrades, and ongoing support.
Emma is passionate about delivering tailored solutions that drive operational efficiency.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending quality time with her friends and family throughout the southern region.

Client Relationship Manager – QueenstownKaren works with our key accounts and new business opportunities in Central Otago. Her experience in the IT industry helps her guide and advise clients on how technology can improve their business. Karen always goes the extra mile for clients to produce positive and enjoyable outcomes, while building strong relationships. Queenstown is her playground, where she loves tramping, biking, golfing and skiing with her family.
Rohan Anderson
Client Relationship Manager – DunedinRohan engages with clients and prospects in the Dunedin area. He joined Focus as a Systems Engineer and later transitioned into the role of a Client Relationship Manager. This experience solidified his understanding on how to recommend the best solutions to clients coming from a wide range of industry. Rohan is passionate about his work and takes great pride in helping his clients' businesses run as efficiently and securely as possible. In his free time, Rohan loves spending time with his young family.
