16 Excel keyboard shortcuts

Love spreadsheets? Neither. But, unfortunately there are a number of industries where spreadsheets are a necessity.

Even though there are alternatives, Excel stays the most used application for making and managing spreadsheets. If you’re new to Excel or just need a refresher, our Excel shortcuts are sure to help you work quicker.

There are a ton of Excel shortcuts out there, but we’ve created a list of the top 16 ones.

  1. Create a New Workbook = Ctrl+N
  2. Select Entire Row = Shift+Space
  3. Select Entire Column = Ctrl+Space
  4. Select Rest of Column = Ctrl+Shift+Down/Up
  5. Select Rest of Row = Ctrl+Shift+Right/Left
  6. Add Hyperlink = Ctrl+K
  7. Open Format Cells Window = Ctrl+1
  8. Autosum Selected Cells = Alt+=
  9. Move up through a selection = Shift + Enter
  10. Jump to the top or bottom of a column = CTRL + ↑ or ↓
  11. Insert a new sheet = Shift + F11
  12. Show all values as percentages = CTRL + Shift + %
  13. Show all values as currency = CTRL + Shift + $
  14. Show all values in general number format = CTRL + Shift + ~
  15. Apply an outline border to selected cells = CTRL + Shift + &
  16. Insert current date = CTRL + ;
